Build a partnership with GRET

Together with GRET, commit to conducting development projects

that have a strong impact for vulnerable populations in Africa, Asia,

Haiti, Latin America and France.

Decentralised Cooperation

Decentralised cooperation provides both a means to fund actions and an innovative system enabling local authorities to develop strong relationships between territories. Decentralised cooperation contributes to the vision of a fair world, where real partnerships between local authorities are built around projects for access to water and sanitation, based on reciprocity, sharing, international openness and active citizen participation.

The French 1% waste mechanism

As part of the 1 % waste mechanism, French communes and mixed syndicates can use up to 1 % of service budgets to conduct international cooperation actions in the areas of waste collection and treatment. Thanks to a partnership with the City of Paris and the City of Brazzaville (Congo), GRET became the first French NGO to benefit from the 1 % waste funding mechanism.

The French 1% water mechanism

With the 1% fair water mechanism, the Oudin-Santini law in France allows French territorial authorities in charge of water & sanitation and water agencies to allocate up to 1% of their Water and Sanitation budget to international solidarity actions for water and sanitation. Local authorities also have the possibility to use their overall budget (the Thiollière law) to conduct international solidarity actions in the area of water and sanitation. These mechanisms make it possible for local authorities to have real and lasting impacts on access to water and sanitation across the world for all.
